What They Do • Examines scene of crime • Find clues & gathers evidence • Records interviews with complainants, witnesses & suspects • Maintains surveillance of establishments & suspects • Prepares/serves search & arrest warrants • Records progress of an investigation • Maintains files on suspects • Submits reports to the commanding officer • Reviews records & government file • Blocks off & secures crime scenes • Organizes searches of crime scenes • Participates in raids and arrests • Testifies in court
