What would be the most troubling thing your mind could imagine ? • Are you concerned? If So, Why? • Could it be a total financial collapse of the worlds markets? • Could it be that famine and disease engulf our country & world? • Could it be that food would no longer be plentiful? • Could it be that all Bibles are removed from every household? • Could it be that all our freedoms vanish away? • Could it be that life as we know it has changed forever? • Could it be that happiness and contentment are gone? • Could it be the end of time here on earth? Some are saying it is • coming on October 12th , which is next Sunday !
A Total Meltdown “Financial Markets” • This is going on as we speak! • The stock market here & around the world is at the lowest level in many years! • Why you might ask? What is different? • Corruption and greed have engulfed world • God is no longer playing a role in most of American’s & the World’s value systems • They are following patterns of old
Notice the World’s Past • Gen 6:11-12 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt ; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. • Deut 13:12-13 'Corrupt men have gone out from among you and enticed the inhabitants of their city, saying, "Let us go and serve other gods"' — which you have not known —
Notice the World’s Past • Deut 31:29 For I know that after my death you will become utterly corrupt , and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you. And evil will befall you in the latter days, because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands."
Notice the World’s Past • Notice what he was referring to………. • Deut 31:24-27 So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, 25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying: 26 "Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there as a witness against you; 27 for I know your rebellion and your stiff neck. If today, while I am yet alive with you, you have been rebellious against the LORD, then how much more after my death?
God Knows! • Ps 14:1-3 The fool has said in his heart "There is no God.“ They are corrupt They have done abominable works There is none who does good. • 2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. • 3 They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt ; There is none who does good, No, not one.
Christians Must Learn! • Eph 4:20-24 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
A World with wrong things on it’s mind • Eph 4:28-30 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Are we our “ Worst Enemy” ? • 1 Tim 6:4-10 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. 6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Are we our “ Worst Enemy” ? • 2 Tim 3:2-5 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Are we our “ Worst Enemy” ? • 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
Where do we go from here, is it time to panic or rollover and • play dead, or get serious with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ? • As long as time continues, we can examine ourselves and make • changes to our lives. • We have to look at things soberly in light of the scriptures. • We can look at the past and realize others mistakes. • We can follow the direction and advice and commands of God. • We can turn from our wicked ways and turn back to him. • We can serve him daily in such a way as to put him first in • our lives, serving him from our hearts showing our trust in him and • not in the world.
