  3. After collage Mr. Cockerell began working on radios and electronics 1935 he went to work at a Marconi Company where he produced broadcasting equipment for televisions (click) 1939 he created one of the first radio detectors for the war (click) Christopher Cockerell part 2

After World War Two he bought a boating business In figuring ways to make boats go faster Christopher got an idea that in order to lift the extra weight it would have to be supported on an air cushion 1953 Mr. Cockerell began to work on the hovercraft July 25,1959 he went over the English Chanel at 30 miles per hour, floating 15 inches above the surface.   5. 1955 a mini model was made of the hovercraft using materials like an industrial air blower, a pair kitchen scales a, and cat food container inside a coffee tin. Using this test he began thinking up the first hovercraft design Mr. Cockerell’s Test

  6. A giant fan on the bottom of the hovercraft creates a powerful wind (click) This wind fills the “skirt” ,or air cushion, allowing it to float A second fan faces backward which lets the hovercraft move forward How a Hovercraft Works

  7. The hovercraft was a major help in the war It’s ability to float on water and land enabled us to go almost anywhere We would use it most to drop off troops and supplies not so much as to travel The military hovercraft was also used for search and rescue Military Use

There are many kinds of hovercrafts The big ones that can carry up to 480 people and 60 cars (click) The fast ones that can reach over 85 miles per hour (click) And the light ones that weigh under 80 pounds Today most hovercrafts are used in races There are many different shapes and sizes of the hovercraft The Hovercraft Today

  9. I predict that in the future everyone will own their own hovercraft The hovercraft would be almost quiet and run on an affordable resource Cars would be obsolete and most likely forgotten except for those lower income people who can’t afford a hovercraft The Future
