There will be many students preforming different literacy programs. They maybe reading their writings or poetry. They may perform a readers theater. They will be showing off their work in many ways. Please come out and join us for Literacy night. The school is holding a pie fundraiser through Market Day, please help raise funds to purchase new books. Report Cards come home on Thursday. Pictures with the Easter Bunny on Friday. Reading Tips to help your students: We are working on characters, setting and retelling this week. Ask your child to describe the characters in their book. Ask them to describe the setting using the illustrations and details from the book. Ask your child what the main idea of the story was. Ask them to retell the story in the correct order that it happened. Ask them to tell you more details from the story. Read every Night: Please write the title of the books you read in the student planner. Read for 20 minutes for 20 nights in March and receive a coupon for a free pizza. Reading helps them become better readers. Writing tips to help your students: Check to see if they are forming their letters correctly. Please help them practice handwriting at home during their homework. Below is the content we will focus on this week. Reading:I can read a word with the –ell, op, ine spelling patterns. I can read a word with irregular spelling pattern I can change the middle letter or letters to make a new word. I can read word with a CVCe pattern. Spelling words: you, your, yes, yell, drop, line, side, dress, draw, saw Bonus: Monday, Tuesday Vocab: don’t, hold, yellow, well, walk, far, green, away, red, fall Math: I can create models of shapes using specific characteristics; and create composite shapes.. I can sort and classify shapes by characteristics; and identify and describe shapes by their characteristics.. Writing: I can write capital and lower case letters correctly. I can write complete sentences and use correct punctuation. I can write about what I learned about animal classifications.
