  2. What is RiT? • Funded by the TDA since Spring 06. Current funding continues until end of 2011 • RiT is a national project providing information, advice and support to refugees who are attempting to requalify, gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and access employment within the English school system.

  3. Who is RiT for? • RiT is for anyone who is, or has been, a refugee or is an asylum seeker • Anyone who has been a teacher in their country of origin • Anyone interested in teaching in the UK with appropriate transferable skills • Any of the above, regardless of current level of English

  4. Why Register? By registering with the project you will be eligible for the services the project offers: • Free UK NARIC qualification comparison assessment through the project • Specialist advice and guidance • National Refugee Teachers Database • Website and online assessment tool • Mentoring programme • Training and events • Support in finding voluntary and paid school places

  5. National Refugee Teachers Database • Approx 500 teachers registered to date • Outreach and Admin Officer role • Referrals • Profile of registrants • Case studies • Statistics produced quarterly
