  3. Engineering • Combination of stone, brick and volcanic cement pozzuolana • When water reached Rome,flowed into enormous cisterns on high ground • Next flowed through pipes • Anyone could tap into network • Some pipes has a fee

  4. Cloaca Maxima • Main sewer of ancient Rome • 6OO BC • Drained valleys between the Esquiline, Viminal, and Quirinal Hills
