Customizable Routing with Declarative Queries

This work explores the integration of customizable routing functionality within the current Internet architecture through declarative queries. As routing is deeply embedded in the infrastructure, the study addresses the challenges of evolvability, including the addition and enhancement of protocols. It discusses options for upgrading routers or implementing overlay networks to improve aspects such as security, efficiency, and flexibility. Existing approaches like active networks are evaluated for their potential to address these issues while promoting agile and scalable routing solutions.
