DAVID - A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART • HE LOVED THE WORD OF GOD Psa 119:97 • The portion he had at that time and that revealed to him Psa 1:1-3 • What do some put before the reading of Scriptures Lk 10:38-42 • HID THE WORD OF GOD IN HIS HEART Psa 119:11 • Why? "That I might not sin against thee“ Col 3:16; 1Jhn 3:9 • What the word hidden in our hearts will do Heb 10:25; Col 4:6; 1Jhn 3:9; Lk 8:11

DAVID - A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART • DAVID CONFESSED HIS SINS Psa 51:3 • Didn't talk of others' sins or blame others • "My sin is ever before me" 2Sam 11:2-15 • Confess your faults Jas 5:16 • Judged according to what we have done 2Cor 5:10 • HE LOVED TO PRAISE GOD Psa 139:14 • Do we praise God the same way David did? Col 2:14; 2Jhn 9 • His attitude in wanting to praise God is what we must imitate - he was king of great nation - yet praised God • Why did he praise God? 1Cor 6:19,20

DAVID - A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART • HE WATCHED HIS TONGUE Psa 39:1 • How easy it is to lose control of the tongue Matt 12:34 • See James 3:2,8,13 and make application • HE HATED EVERY FALSE WAY Psa 119:104 • Truth creates a dislike for error • David hated sin - not the sinner • Reason many embrace false ways is they don't get understanding from precepts of God Eph 3:4

  5. DAVID - A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART • HE LOVED UNITY Psa 133:1 • David said unity is both Good and Pleasant • One who loves unity works to keep unity Eph 4:3 • Jesus prayed for unity Jhn 17:20,21 Paul exhorted us to be united 1Cor 1:10

  6. DAVID - A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART • Things written aforetime; written for our learning Rom 15:4 • We can be a person after God's own heart if we will develop the characteristics David possessed • Involves obedience and steadfastness.
