  3. Problem There are literally millions of puppy mills open and operating around the country, leaving billions of dogs injured and sick. Too many to inspect Pet stores keep this cycle going.

  4. What are puppy mills? •  Multi-billion dollar business • Commercial breeding and selling of dogs and animals • Breeders sell animals to pet stores and pet owners • The actual mills are usually in horrible condition. • To USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) these are just businesses

  5. How do puppy mills work? • Breeders force dogs to reproduce constantly. Mass production. • The litter is sold to make a profit to pet stores or to anyone who wants a dog. • Dogs are kept in cramped cages, often shared with up to 5-10 dogs. • No care provided for puppies. • Fed only enough to keep them alive • Kept outside. Kept in wire cages stacked.

  6. Solution • Our solution is to support bills that are tightening restrictions about breeding, encourage more spontaneous visits from places like AKS, and start organized protests.

  7. How is it being stopped now? • Current laws in place • Laws being put in place now • Organizations shutting down mills and protesting them • Puppy mill awareness, like articles on them

  8. Budget • Size of puppy mills • What vet is being used • Sizes of dog • Extend of injuries • Optional payment of people raiding the mills • The cost of the mill itself

  9. How can you help? • ADOPT DOGS FROM SHELTERS!!!! • Calling officials if you see or suspect someone has a puppy mill • Telling other people about the mills and the danger the dogs are in • Donations
