  2. Copy this title – “DESCRIBING MY EYES” Copy the following phrases into your books in French and English J’AI LES YEUX BLEUS = I HAVE BLUE EYES J’AI LES YEUX BRUNS = I HAVE BROWN EYES J’AI LES YEUX VERTS = I HAVE GREEN EYES J’AI LES YEUX NOISETTE = I HAVE HAZEL EYES

Copy this title – “DESCRIBING MY HAIR” Copy the following phrases into your books in French and English J’AI LES CHEVEUX BLONDS = I HAVE BLOND HAIR J’AI LES CHEVEUX BRUNS = I HAVE BROWN HAIR J’AI LES CHEVEUX NOIRS = I HAVE BLACK HAIR J’AI LES CHEVEUX ROUX = I HAVE GINGER HAIR J’AI LES CHEVEUX CHÂTAINS = I HAVE CHESTNUT HAIR

  5. THERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO DESCRIBE YOUR HAIR AND EYES IN FRENCH. COPY THESE 2 EXAMPLES AS WELL… MES YEUX SONT BLEUS = MY EYES ARE BLUE MES CHEVEUX SONT BLONDS = MY HAIR IS BLONDE IMPORTANT NOTE.READ CAREFULLY: IN ENGLISH WE TALK ABOUT OUR “HAIR”, BUT IN FRENCH THEY SAY “HAIRS”. THEY ACTUALLY SAY “MY HAIRS ARE BLOND”. THE WORD “SONT” MEANS “ARE” IN ENGLISH, BUT WHEN WE WRITE ABOUT DESCRIBING OUR HAIR, WE STILL WRITE “IS” IN ENGLISH.

  6. DID YOU NOTICE ANYTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT THE COLOUR WORDS IN FRENCH WHEN DESCRIBING HAIR AND EYES? LOOK AGAIN AT THESE TWO EXAMPLES… J’AI LES YEUX BLEUS = I HAVE BLUE EYES J’AI LES CHEVEUX BLONDS = I HAVE BLOND HAIR THE COLOUR ALSO HAS AN “S”! THIS IS BECAUSE THE COLOUR WORD IS BEING USED TO DESCRIBE EYES AND HAIRS. MORE THAN ONE OF SOMETHING IS KNOWN AS “PLURAL”. ADDING THIS EXTRA “S” WHEN DESCRIBING SOMETHING THAT IS PLURAL IS KNOWN AS “AGREEMENT”. MAKING SURE YOU GET THE “AGREEMENTS” CORRECT WILL HELP YOU REACH LEVEL 3. HOWEVER THERE ARE 2 COLOURS THAT DO NOT ADD AN “S”, AND THEY ARE “NOISETTE” (HAZEL) AND “MARRON” (ANOTHER WORD FOR BROWN). WHY THIS IS, NOBODY KNOWS!!

  7. When DESCRIBING YOURSELF, THE WORDS FOR EYE COLOUR, HAIR COLOURS AND STYLES CAN BE COMBINED IN ONE SENTENCE. COPY THIS EXAMPLE… J’AI LES YEUX VERTS ET LES CHEVEUX BRUNS ET COURTS = I HAVE GREEN EYES AND SHORT, BROWN HAIR.

  8. EXERCISE 1. READ EACH DESCRIPTION AND DECIDE WHICH PERSON IT DESCRIBES. IN YOUR BOOKS WRITE THE NUMBERS 1 TO 6 AND WRITE THE PERSON’S NAME AS YOUR ANSWER.

  9. EXERCISE 2: YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE YOUR OWN POWERPOINT PRESENTATION… FIND PICTURES OF YOUR FAVOURITE CELEBRITIES. PASTE THEM INTO A SLIDE OR SLIDES. THEN WRITE IN FRENCH WHAT THEY WOULD SAY TO DESCRIBE THEIR HAIR AND EYES. REMEMBER THE “AGREEMENTS” FOR LEVEL 3!! HERE IS AN EXAMPLE… “Je m’appelle Earl. J’ai les yeuxbruns et les cheveux noirs et courts” LEVEL 3!!!
