Question • Is visual better than auditory?
Purpose The purpose of this project is to determine do people have better visual (eyesight) memory or auditory( hearing) memory.
Hypothesis • I hypothesize that visual will be better then auditory. I believe this because for me, seeing helps me remember things. For studying a test it is better to see the words.
Materials • 10 word list with 10 words each • a pencil • pieces of papers
VARIABLE RESPONDING: NUMBER OF WORDS REMEMBERD MANIPULATED: VISUAL AND AUDTIORY WORD LIST CONSTANT: THE WORDS ON EACH TRIAL LIST
DIRECTIONS 1.Create 10 different word lists with 10 different words. 2. Give 1 piece of paper and pencil to all people. 3. Show one word list to each person for 1 minute remove list 4. Have each person write down as many words they can remember in one minute. 5. Read aloud another word list. 6. Repeat step 4. 7. Repeat steps 1-6 for 4 more trials using a different word list each time. 8. Calculate the average number of words recalled.
conclusion Our hypothesis was correct. Visual is better than auditory. The average number of auditory words recalled was 5.046 and the average visual words recalled was6.348. If we repeated this, we could use kids and adults to see who will do better.
