  1. Welcome to Curriculum Night with Mrs. Jenny Lewis

Mrs. Jenny Lewis Science Teacher • Undergraduate Degree - Wayne State University • Postgraduate Degree - Wayne State University • 22 years teaching experience, 21 years in Royal Oak •   I attended and graduated from Royal Oak Schools: Parker, Addams, and Kimball. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and decided I wanted teach science. I’ve been teaching 8th grade science since 1993. My major is chemistry with minors in math and science. • After-school time is spent with my husband and our four children. I can relate to the joy and anguish you are experiencing with your teens and tweens. • I’m looking forward to an outstanding year with your children.

  3. 6th Grade Science with Mrs. Lewis • We will cover the following units: • Lab Safety • Measurement • Physical and Chemical Changes • Atoms and molecules • Elements and the Periodic Table • Energy • Plants • Cells • The Magnetic Earth

  4. Typical Science Routine • Copy assignment into planner work and on daily starter. • Take out homework and I check it in. • Correct starter and homework. • Update the Table of Contents and Grade Sheet. • Begin the day’s lesson which may be reading from the text with discussion, performing a lab or activity, developing notes on covered material, etc. • End the lesson with application of the concepts in some form of an assignment.

  5. We will use the following textbooks: I have a class set of these books to use at school. The books may be accessed online at home using the following web address: https://my.hrw.com. From the following list, please choose one of the words and use it for both the username and password: sroms, sroms1, sroms2, sroms3, sroms4, sroms5, sroms6, sroms7, sroms8, sroms9, sroms10, sroms11, sroms12, sroms13, sroms14, sroms15, sroms16, sroms17, sroms18, sroms19, sroms20 

  6. MI Star MI Star is our Web based attendance/grade book. We use MI Star to enter our attendance daily. We enter our grades once assignments are corrected. Please check MI Star often. Please note the following: Blank= The grade hasn’t been entered yet or is averaged as a zero if it isn’t turned in.
