Chinese Evangelist John Sung • Born in China on September 29, 1901 • Son of Wesleyan Methodist minister • Enrolled Wesleyan University of Ohio and Ohio State University (liberal and modern theology and Bible criticism) in 1920 • Earned a doctorate in chemistry in five years • Enrolled Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1926 • Was transformed on February 10, 1927 • Locked in an insane asylum for 193 days with his Bible and a pen (read through the entire Bible 40 times) • Returned to China in November 1927 • Preached in China for 15 years • Died in China on August 18, 1944 (43 years old)
