  3. Purpose of Tower Eng. Team • Provide technical assistance to PMT during design and construction of telecom towers. • Coordinate project activities with contractors, engineers, CSD, Loss Prevention and Inspection Departments. • Prepare detailed scope of work including detailed estimation for manpower and material required for construction. • Review and approve engineering design for new towers. • Review tower related sections of projects DBSP and specifications documents.

  4. Purpose of Tower Eng. Team • Propose and implement structural upgrades of sub-standard towers. • Perform structural analysis of existing towers to examine the addition of new antennas and recommend strengthening of towers, where required. • Review tower related Saudi Aramco Standards and recommend changes and revisions • Study and approve new antenna installation on existing towers. • Perform MCI of new towers and reinforcing of exiting towers. . • Perform Paint Inspections for Comms. Operations Dept. as part of a preventive maintenance program.

  5. Problem statement • Installed/removed antenna on communication towers without our knowledge resulted in project delay

  6. Effects • Project completion delays • Rework of the completed activities • Reject of work already paid/accepted • Base future study of new system on incorrect information • Saudi Aramco Drawings not updated

  7. Pareto The results were based on personal experience and experts opinion from their involvements in the project

Solution & Recommendations • Regular inspections by Comm Operation Dept shall be done as per SAESs and SAEPs • Proponent, PMT and Contractor shall report any installation or removal of antenna to Comm Oprt. Dept. • Assign an individual from Comm Oprt. Dept. to maintain the data base and he will responsible for it. • Comm Oprt Dept should provide a copy of the updated antenna stat sheet. • All installation shall be approved by FEG. • Motivate people
