Semester Study Abroad • Liberal studies and languages at most universities on IPS study abroad website (Hannam, South Korea) • University of Portsmouth, England – BK and Elementary & Middle Grades (new – but no practical experiences in public schools) • Pädagogische Hochschulen Ludwigsburg & Weingarten, Germany (some courses in English) • Oulu and Jyväskylä Universities, Finland • University of Technology, Sydney, Australia

Education course & internship • Semester course + 10-day internship abroad • Summer course with internship abroad • Possible Sites: • Hannam University, Daejeon, South Korea • Guangxi Normal University, Guilin, China • Pädagogische Hochschule, Ludwigsburg, Germany • Pädagogische Hochschule, Weingarten, Germany • Naruto Education University, Japan

Short Internship Most likely in summer for two weeks at one of our partner institutions: • Hannam University, Daejeon, South Korea • Guangxi Normal University, Guilin, China • Naruto Education University, Japan • Pädagogische Hochschule, Ludwigsburg, Germany • Pädagogische Hochschule, Weingarten, Germany

Student Teach Abroad  Student Teaching in China_________________*  Select an opportunity to enroll at Shawnee State University for your student teaching semester. *  Participate in a full semester of student teaching  in an English immersion K-12 school in Guangzhou, Southern China. *  Room & Board provided by the China Partner School *  Shawnee State Tuition and fees are paid while student teaching in China (instate [Ohio]= $3381 and out of state= $5784) *  Two week pre departure orientation on Shawnee's campus is required for all participants * For Program Information or if you have specific questions, please contact:    Dr. Xiodan (Dandan)Huang, Department of Teacher Education    Shawnee State University, 904 2nd Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662    Email: xhuang@shawnee.edu , Tel: 740-351-3440

  8. Add international content to existing courses • Use international students as native informants • Invite international WCU faculty to serve as native informants • Use videoconferencing with education department/college at a WCU partner university • Invite a faculty member from a WCU international partner university to teach or guest-lecture for a few weeks or semester • Participate in the Fulbright Program

  9. Faculty Research Opportunities • Fulbright Award • Faculty Exchanges at partner universities • Pädagogische Hochschule Weingarten, Germany, Elli Rathgeb-Schnierer in Math education • Collaborative efforts with UNC faculty

  10. Faculty-led Summer or Semester Course Organizational Meetings: Thursday 8/25, and Monday 8/29 from 3:30-5:00 p.m., McKee 121. Contact Claudia Bryant, x7739 • Teach semester course and add 10-12 day trip abroad or travel during the spring/fall break • Plan to teach course in summer at overseas site; can use one of WCU’s partner institutions or 3rd party provider
