  2. Turkey is the most important dried fruit exporter in the world and has approximately a 15% share of total world dried fruit export.

  3. RAISINS (Sultanas) Turkey has 1.200 different types of grapes and has been one of the five major producers in the world.

  4. Seedless “Yuvarlak and Sultani” are the main varieties used for raisins which are grown especially in the Aegean Region of Turkey.

  5. The original name of the famous seedless Turkish raisins “Sultana” comes from the fact that they were served to Ottoman Sultans.

  8. DRIED APRICOTS Turkey is the major producer for both fresh and dried apricots with approximately 500 thousand tons of fresh and more than 100 thousand tons of dried apricot production in 2010. .

  9. More than 20% of the fresh apricot production and 80% of dried apricot production is met by Turkey In Turkey, Central Eastern Anatolia is the most fertile region for apricot cultivation.   12. DRIED FIGS The annual Fig production of Turkey may vary between 45-60 thousand tons depending on the climate conditions. Turkey ranks first in the world for both fresh and dried figs production.

  13. Production Turkey has a 25% share of the world fresh fig production and realizes over half of the world’s dried fig production. Drying varieties are cultivated in Agean Region. Source: Turkish Stats Institution - 2010

  14. The most important variety is “Sarılop” which is cultivated in Aydın, around Big Menderes and Small Menderes river basins where are the fertile fields. Sarılop has been officially registered by Turkish Patent Institution.
