  2. Grades • Not weighted – a point is a point! • Homework – completion grades, collected as a set later (5 assignments due on test days) • Tests and Quizzes – about every week • Quizzes = 5-45 points • Tests = 50 – 100 points

  3. Edith Hamilton Mythology Book Required Text! We’ll be using it for tests and projects. Available to purchase in class for $8

  4. Latin Club • $8 to join • Have to join Latin club to be allowed to go to state or national convention

  5. March Madness Everything big happens in March . . . except the AP test

  6. National Latin Exam • Curriculum based on NLE • Everyone should take the NLE • Students with an A or a B are expected to take NLE • $4 • Why take the NLE? • Cheap standardized test practice with no pressure • Scholarship money and prizes for high scores • Why not? They’ve been studying for it all year!

  7. Medusa Mythology Exam • Theme this year: “Malicious Monsters and Monstrous Mortals” • Requires studying outside of class • For mythology enthusiasts who want more than we have time to cover in class this year • Why take the Medusa? • Taking a standardized test with no pressure • Reinforces research and study skills • The stories are always tons of fun!

State Latin Convention • March 30-31st • Norman, Ok at the NCED convention center • Minutes south of OU campus • All Latin club members are eligible to attend • Competitions in • Academics • Athletics • Arts • Cost: $75-$100 • Will need chaperones! (1 chaperone per 10 students) • Hoping to have fundraisers to help offset some of the costs for chaperones and for students

  9. National Latin Convention • Like state, but bigger, longer, and on a college campus • July 26th-July 31st • Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC • Competitions in • Academics • Athletics • Arts • Fun way to gear back up before school starts

  10. Europe Trip - Not School Sponsored!!! • June 2012 (tentatively June 6th) • Parents are highly encouraged to come along! • No matter what your student tells you . . .
