  1. TIPS ON HOW TO 10 NAIL A JOB INTERVIEW

  2. Going to a job interview can cause significant stress and tension.

  3. Good preparation can help to give you the information and the confidence you need to make the best impression to get a favorable decision.

  4. These tips can help to put you in top form for the interview process:

  5. 1 TODAY’S DRESS FOR SUCCESS

  6. Your choice of apparel should be a step above the company’s dress policy to ensure that you make a good impression.

  7. Men should wear a suit, regardless of the dress code of the company. They can always remove the jacket if it seems too formal.

  8. Women should wear a skirt or dress of modest length and neckline.

  9. Adding a blazer can provide more formality. Taking the blazer off can make it less formal.

  10. 2 RESEARCH THE COMPANY THOROUGHLY

  11. The more information you have about what the company does and your role in the enterprise can help to speak meaningfully about what you can bring to the position.

  12. Look at the company’s site online and check out their Facebook and other social media pages.

  13. Scour up some recent press releases on what’s going on at the company. Look up news stories in which the company is mentioned.

  14. 3 ADJUST YOUR ATTITUDE TO THE SITUATION

  15. If you are younger than the interviewer, create an attitude of being an equal.

  16. If you are older than the interviewer, keep your attitude cooperative and upbeat.

  17. 4 DO YOUR PRE-INTERVIEW PREP

  18. Arrive at least 15 minutes early and go to the bathroom. • Warm your hands in water or use the hand dryer so your handshake will not be cold and clammy.

  19. Practice your smile in the mirror. • Take a few deep breaths to increase your oxygen supply to fight nervousness. • Mentally recite positive affirmations.

  20. 5 WATCH YOUR TIMING

  21. Make sure you seem neither too plodding with answers, nor too rushed, which can show nervousness.

  22. Find a comfortable cadence that puts you in a favorable light.

  23. 6 BE PREPARED TO FIND COMMON GROUND WITH THE INTERVIEWER

  24. Mention possible intersections of interest such as sports teams, hobbies or popular destinations.

  25. Be subtle in finding ways to bond with the interviewer.

  26. 7 WAIT CALMLY

  27. Waiting to be called in can be a nerve-wracking experience, but don’t show your nervousness on the outside.

  28. Avoid foot shaking, nail biting, or toe tapping to maintain a controlled, professional manner.

  29. Breathe deeply and calmly to increase your sense of serenity.

  30. 8 THINK LIKE AN INTERVIEWER

  31. Look at your resume from the viewpoint of the interviewer. What aspects are likely to draw questions?

  32. Practice the answers. • You can have a friend play the role of interviewer to get a feel for what to expect.

  33. 9 MAKE YOUR HANDSHAKE SAY GOOD THINGS ABOUT YOU

  34. A handshake can reveal lack of confidence or inability to monitor your behavior in a suitable manner.

  35. Make sure your handshake expresses confidence and control.

  36. 10 HAVE REASONS WHY YOU’RE THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB

  37. Your research will help you to expand on ways you can be an asset to the company and the corporate culture.

  38. Your ability to speak positively about yourself and your goals will go a long way toward making a good impression as a potential hire.
