(temporary teller – 10:30~13:00) --Lateness Fine: 1 Day: NT$100, 2 Days: NT$200, 3 Days: NT$300 4-7 Days : NT$500. 8-12 Days : NT$1,000. from 13th Day to 1/3 semester: NT$1,500

  3. Important Dates! • Course Selection: --Online add/drop: Sep. 14~Sep. 21 --Course Modification (for exchange students): Oct. 6 ~ Oct. 7 **Course Modification Forms are available at OIC, please contact Melody!**

  4. Visa & Open Bank Account • Basic Procedure for Degree Students: Visitor Visa Resident Visa (within 15 days) Alien Resident Certificate(ARC) • Basic Procedure for Exchange Students: Exch. for 1 semester: Visitor Visa Visitor Visa Extension Exch. for 1 year: Visitor Visa Resident Visa (within 15 days) ARC

  5. Apply for ARC I. Pay the registration fees II. Apply for the enrollment certificate at the Registration Section (4th F., Administration Bldg.) with the receipt of the registration payment (Resident Visa holder: 2 copies; Visitor Visa holder:1 copy) **Exchange students need to get an extra certificate letter at OIC.**

  6. Apply for ARC III. Apply for the Resident Visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs with your passport, visitor visa, enrollment certificate, 2 colored photos, application fee (NTD2,200), health report*, and verified diploma and transcript.*The List of Hospitals designated by MOFA: http://www.cdc.gov.tw/ct.asp?xItem=7695&ctNode=92 5&mp=5 IV. Apply for an ARC at the Immigration Agency with your passport, resident visa, enrollment certificate, 2 photos, and minimum deposit (NTD1,000)

  7. Apply for ARC V. Open an account at First Commercial Bank or Post Office with your ARC, passport and NTD1,000. *Please use your Chinese name as the account name.

  8. Open a bank account before applying for an ARC? • Bring your passport, letter of admission, and enrollment certificateGo to the Immigration Agency to apply for an ID number.

  9. Work Permit • Conditions: 1. Stay in Taiwan over 2 semesters 2. With work permit, int’l students are only allowed to work within 16 hours a week. • Please Note -- Int’l students are not allowed to work with a student visa -- Int’l students are only allowed to work within 16 hrs a week with a valid work permit after studying in TW for more than 2 semesters • Bureau of Employment and Vocational Servicehttp://www.evta.gov.tw/eng/content/list.asp?mfunc_id=101

  10. New Student Health Check-up • Choose a method that is most convenient for you: (1)Exam at school(2)Exam at a hospital authorized by NCCU **Students applying for Resident Visa, please just go to the hospital designated by MOFA, and fill out the info NCCU requires online.**

  12. Time: 2009/9/10 (Thu) - 9/12 (Sat) Location: SihWei Hall, NCCU Fee: NT$600 to be paid at the site. Schedule for Undergraduate Students 1. Exam at school

Exam at a Hospital authorized by NCCU: • Please fill out the "NCCU Student Health Form" online, and print it out. • Time: before 9/26(Sat) • Fee: NT$700 (including the registration fee) • Hospital: Taipei City Hospital (Ren-ai Branch) • Address: No.10, Sec. 4, Ren-ai Rd., Da-an Dist., Taipei City (check-in at 1F general exam counter) • Check-in time：Monday ~ Friday：9:00-11:00;13:30-16:00Sat：9:00-11:00 **Appointment is not necessary** • The cost becomes NT$1,100 if the exam is done after Sep. 26.

  15. Medical Insurance • From Sep. ~ Dec., please purchase your own medical insurance to cover your medical costs, if any. • International students who hold valid ARC for over 4 months are required to take out National Health Insurance (NHI) • If students are already insured by NHI or have held a valid ARC for over 4 months before enrolling in NCCU, please contact OIC for NHI fee adjustment. • NHI fees (included in enrollment payment slip) • Fall 2009：Jan. ~ Feb., 2010 (NT$1,318 = 659 X 2) • Spring 2010：March ~ Aug., 2010 (NT$3,954 = 659 X 6)

  16. See a doctor • Bring your NHI card • Group-application: submit one photo and a copy of ARC to OIC before Dec. 31 • Self-application: fill out the application form and mail it to Bureau of NHI sample of NHI card

  17. Scholarships • Degree Students: MOE Common Scholarship • Exchange Students: Mandarin Studies Scholarship

  18. MOE Common Scholarship Eligibility: • Undergraduates: Take at least 8 credits from the previous semester and achieve an average result of above 70 points • Graduates: Take at least 4 credits from the previous semester and achieve an average result of above 80 points • Those who are receiving other scholarships from Taiwan government or who are also having a full- time job are not eligible to apply.

  19. MOE Common Scholarship • Application Time： Late Sep. and Late Feb. (confirmed date TBA) • Review Criteria: Based on student’s average grade of previous semester • The scholarship recipient shall adhere to the following regulations and duties: 1. Complete the registration procedures within the designated period and shall not been convicted of major violations. 2. Must not be absent for more than a quarter of the total class time. 3. Recipients shall achieve results of a certain standard after receiving the scholarship: >Undergraduates must achieve an average result above 70 points. >Graduate students must achieve an average result above 80 points.

  20. Mandarin Studies Scholarship • Eligibility: I. Applicant should be an exchange student from NCCU partner universities. II. Applicant shall not receive any other scholarships in Taiwan. However, applicant who has received scholarship or subsidy based on the reciprocal principle of two schools is eligible to apply.

  21. Mandarin Studies Scholarship • Application Time: four times a year— >Winter 2009: Oct. 30 >Spring 2010: late Dec. >Summer 2010: late April >Fall 2010: Mid July **the above dates are tentative; confirmed dates TBA** • Review Criteria: average grade and attendance of previous term
