Free Verse I am The rain, soft and steady, pounding the window A lioness, proud and protective of those I love “I Can Only Imagine”, living my life for what will come after Number 41 like Dirk Nowitzki, my favorite professional athlete I am A suburban, perfect for long roadtrips. The kitchen table where my family gathers to share supper and secrets Ice cold Coca-Cola, addicting and refreshing I am a piano, playing a smooth, constant melody with a surprise every now and then in my family’s kitchen where I am myself completely the mountains, glorious and majestic I am Afraid of cockroaches and mice scampering across the floor Hope that everyday I will be better than I was the day before hides behind my eyes. ~ Mrs. Browder

  3. Pantoum • Made up of four line stanzas • The second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third line of the next stanza • Some follow an ABAB rhyming pattern
