  4. Advantages • Mobile agents can work together • Synchronized clients & servers • Reduce bandwidth

  5. Security concerns with hosts • Malicious Hosts • - Eavesdropping • - Alteration • - Masquerade • - Denial of service

  6. Counter measures • Avoiding a threat • -Hosts without authentication should be avoided • Similar to how consumers avoid businesses with bad reputations • -Secure hosts form secure groups • Similar to how consumers avoid businesses with bad reputations

  7. Counter measures • -Hardware security measures • -Symmetric Encryption • -Co-operating agents • The data and how to use the data is seperate

  8. Summary • Overall, it is easy to see why so many people are trying to make the move over to mobile agents as an industry standard, but it is even easier to see why the move has yet to be made. Mobile agents could be used to simplify many tasks, but the security risks and the cost of making such a large move outweighs the advantages.
