  3. How do I remember what variable goes on what axis? • Think Romeo and Juliet! • When Juliet died, Romeo said, “WHY”! Why!!!

  6. What does LINEAR mean? • A line in a graph that is straight. • This means the object is moving at constant speed. Distance (m) Time (s)

  7. What is the slope of the line? • The slope of the line is the angle of the line. • We use the letter k or m Distance (m) Time (s)

  8. What does the slope of the line mean on a distance v. time graph? • The slope of the line is the speed of the object. Remember: r = d/t Speed = Distance Time

  9. What is the equation for slope? Slope (k) = rise run Slope (k) = y2 – y1 x2– x1

  10. How do you calculate slope or rate (k)? Step 1: Pick two points on the line • If you are NOT told to use SPECIFIC data points, you may use any 2 points on the line. • try to make sure the point is in a corner of the squares on the graph. If possible, pick (0,0) as one of your points • You must use points that are on the line. • If the line goes UP the slope is positive (+) • If the line goes DOWN the slope isnegative (-)
