  5. It is not[the same as] doing nothing • The procrastinator is actually doing anything he/she can not to do what he/she should do. • Coffee, cleaning, shopping – and „we’ll start right after” • Actual start takes place just before deadline, in a giant rush and stress

  6. Why do we procrastinate? • Fear of failure • Fear of success • Fear of losingcontrol • Fear of isolation • Fear of intimacy

  7. Stages of procrastination: • The will to do something • The decision about doing it • Postponing it without a reason • Thinking about the disadvantages of procrastinating • Still postponing • Looking for excuses or leaving the problem • Postponing • Doing it on time, under heavy pressure and stress • Deciding to change one’s attitude in the future • …And it all happens over and over again…

  8. Othercharacteristics • Lowself-confidence • I’mtoo busy • Stubbornness • Manipulation • Copingwithpressures • A frustratedvictim

  9. Whychange? • Peace of mind • A feeling of strength and purpose • Healthy feeling of being in charge of your life. • Better self-esteem, self-organization • Better efficiency [especially if procrastinating at work] ≈ higher salary?

  10. Dealingwithprocrastination • Make a plan. • The right attitude • The real, final, really final, deadline. DEAD line. • The method of small steps • Positive spatial anchors • Gather the resources • Reward yourself

  11. Perhaps you have never imagined how gifted you are… …and how much you can really do …if you use your time properly. Or, how much you can earn… How productive you can be… How highly promoted you can get :) How good you can feel about yourself and getting assigned to a new task! BenefitsDiscoveryourself, be moresuccessful

  12. Sun Tzu, “The Art of War” And, If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not your enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
