VISION- California Health Strategies Collaborative will improve the health Californians by: • Create annual forum (Summit) to assess current policies and develop new strategies to help improve the health of Californians • Foster creation of transformative vision & action plan with CBO, Healthcare, PH and financing partners • Facilitate cross-sectoral understanding to produce productive partnerships • Focus on critical area that cuts across sectors- nutrition/physical activity/obesity
CHSC GOAL: Improve health of Californians • Test effectiveness of efforts in play and inform the evolution of new strategies • Develop baseline metrics • Ca DPH - Healthy People 2010 objectives 1984-2006 • Report released 4/08 – 22 yrs of data – There are two major objectives related to obesity and 8 subcategories. • Nutrition and Overweight - Health People Objective 19 • 19.1 Percent of Adults 20 and Older Who Are at a Healthy Weight • 19.2 Percent of Adults 20 and Older Who Are Obese • 19.18 Percent of Adults Who Report Not Experiencing Food Insecurity in the Past Year • 19. Percent Trying to lose weight • 19. Percent Trying to maintain weight • Physical Activity and Fitness - Health People Objective 22 • 22.1 Percent of Adults Who Engage in No Leisure Time Activities • 22.2 Percent of Adults Who Engage in Moderate Exercise 5 or More Days a Week, For 30 or More Minutes • 22.3 Percent of Adults Who Engage in Vigorous Exercise 20 or More Minutes 3 or More Times a Week
