Types of Pattern. Single Piece pattern. It is made in one piece, usually from wood, and is used for castings. Gated Pattern. This is the combination of many loose piece patterns with attached gates and runners and provides a channel through which the molten metal can flow. Match Plate Pattern.

  1. Types of Pattern Single Piece pattern It is made in one piece, usually from wood, and is used for castings

  2. Gated Pattern This is the combination of many loose piece patterns with attached gates and runners and provides a channel through which the molten metal can flow.

  3. Match Plate Pattern This Pattern is made in two halves mounted on both sides of match plate conforming to the contour of the parting surface.

  4. Sweep Pattern It is used to generate surfaces of revolution in large castings, and to prepare moulds out paste like material.

  5. Skeleton Pattern This consists of a simple wooden frame outlining the shape of the casting. It is used to guide the moulder for hand-shaping the mould and for large castings having simple geometrical shapes Skeleton formed with no material inside(hollow inside)
