  1. Johannes Kepler(1571-1630) By Alan Lopez

  2. Life • Born in December 27 1571 Germany. • He studied in the University of Tübingen, where he studied the Copernicus teaching of a heliocentric solar system. • He later in 1600, was invited by a rich Dutchmen Tycho Brahe to his top observatory. • At Brahe’s death Kepler found his solar system discoveries and was able to implement them in his studies.

  3. The Martian Problem • The Martian problem was that why did the moon appear to move backwards on the Earth sky. • Kepler, trying to impress all of the other astronomers said he would figure the mystery in eight days. • Kepler showed that the planets traveled by ellipses, and the sun is not always at the center of the orbit, its off to a side. • Unlike Earth’s orbit Mars showed to have a more eccentric orbit around the Sun, causing a retro gate motion on Earth. • This is also known as Kepler Law I.

  4. Kepler’s Laws • The First law is the discovery of planets traveling in an elliptical path around the sun. • In 1609, he posted his Second Law of if a planet is traveling a longer pathway or further away from the sun then its rotational movement is slower. • The Third Law stares the relationship of two planets rotating around the sun is connected with their ratio as well. In conclusion the square of the time lapse between the rotation of the two planets would equal the cube of the radius of their radius.

  5. Later Achievements and Death • Kepler discovered the refraction function in the eye and that using two eyes enables the depth perception. • Created eyeglasses for both farsighted and nearsighted. • Explained how a telescope functioned. • And also described magnification and reflection.

  6. Today • NASA today has discovered a solar system named after Kepler. • Containing two Earth like planets that are, 60 and 40% bigger than earth.
