  2. Assignment #1 (adapted courtesy of ref. [1]) Consider the bar in the figure, loaded as shown below. Determine the nodal displacements, element stresses and reaction loads at the supported ends. Solve this problem by hand calculation, adopting the elimination method for handling boundary condition. Due: 09th August (1700pm) Steel 250 mm2 E = 200 x 109 N/m2 Aluminium 400 mm2 E = 70 x 109 N/m2 In addition: i) Plot the displacement curve & stress curve ii) Calculate the stress at nodal points iii) What is P before the steel yields ?
