  7. Lever Is a simple machine that consists of bar that pivots on fixed point called fulcrum

  8. Definitions : • A simple machine • A board or bar that rests on a turning point called the fulcrum • Used to change the amount, the strength and the direction of movement. • The position of the force and the load can be changed by moving them to different points on the lever.

  9. Levers types:

  10. Levers-First Class • In a first class lever the fulcrum is in the middle and the load and effort is on either side • Think of a see-saw

  11. First Class Lever • Common examples of first-class levers include crowbars, scissors, pliers, tin snips and seesaws.

  12. Levers-Second Class • In a second class lever the fulcrum is at the end, with the load in the middle • Think of a wheelbarrow

  13. Second Class Lever • Examples of second-class levers include nut crackers, wheel barrows, doors, and bottle openers.

  14. Levers-Third Class • In a third class lever the fulcrum is again at the end, but the effort is in the middle • Think of a pair of tweezers

  15. Third Class Lever • Examples of third-class levers include tweezers, arm hammers, and shovels.
