  4. BIOGRAPHY • STARTED WRITING SONGS ABOUT THE RODEO LIFE STYLE • RECORDED SONGS IN A FRIENDS BASEMENT • SOLD SONGS OUT OF THE BACK OF HIS TRUCK • 1976 WON BAREBACK RIDING CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO • RETIRED FROM PRCA IN 1980

  13. LISTENING GUIDE BAREBACK JACK • 0:00 Introduction begins with guitars playing the main chords and drums every other beat. At 0:10 the beat picks up with guitars and drums • 0:20 the first verse begins guitars and drums they are playing the same beat as the very first part of the introduction. • 0:50 the chorus begins, the beat changes just a bit to a faster version of the beat. Notice at 1:04 the electric guitar has a shot solo. • 1:15 the second verse begins with the same beat as the first and introduction but with a fiddle playing the part of the guitar. Between the lines the fiddle has a short solo. At 1:37 the piano picks up instead of the fiddle. • 1:45 the chorus repeats with the same beat as the first, but between the end of the vocals and before the start of the third verse the guitars, fiddle and piano play the same beat as the intro beat. The vocals change just a bit, instead of You’ll ask whose that well that’s Bareback Jack, he changes it to You’ll all know me, my names Bareback Jack • 2:09 the third verse begins with the same beat and rhythm as the rest • 2:39 the final verse starts with the chorus beat • 2:54 the conclusion begins with and electric guitar solo and then all instruments fade out

LISTENING GUIED Hooked on an 8 Second Ride • 0:00 the introduction starts with a the guitar and drums slowly fading in at 0:23 the beat picks up to a pretty simple beat of 4/4 • 0:38 the first verse begins with the simple 4/4 beat playing in the back ground with the electric guitar holding the beat longer • 1:08 the chores begins and plays the same beat as the guitar in the first verse fading out at 1:22, then the beat picks up to the beat of 4/4 and ending with a electric guitar solo with the beat playing in the background • 1:40 the second verse begins with the same beat as the first • 2:09 the chores repeats with the same beat as before, but they add 2 more lines to the lyrics and they are just a repeat as the last line in the chorus • 2:42 The conclusion of the song begins with the same beat as the beginning of the song, with the guitar picking up pace until a solo at the very end and then the drums fade out

The piano plays a small solo at the end of the verse • 0:56 the second verse begins with the same verse as the beginning but the electric guitar holds the notes • 1:38 the bridge begins with only the drums and guitar playing with the piano playing between the beats. At the end of the bridge the fiddle plays a solo with drum accompaniment • 2:18 the third verse begins with the same beats as the first ones • 2:58 the final verse begins with just one line of lyrics • 3:10 the conclusion begins with the same the beginning of the song and then fades out at 3:27
