Basic and Intelligent Power Distribution Unit The data center has become a part of our lives now, from small to large scale companies, everyone requires an efficient data center for excellent networking and work experience. Various commodities are comprised together to form a single data center; racks, cabinets, equipment, cables, cooling system are a part of an efficiently working data center. Data center power distribution units are used to provide power to various data center equipment. They are further categorised into two: Basic and intelligent power distribution units. Let us discuss in detail what are these two: Basic Power distribution units: A basic power distribution unit is used simply for distributing power to different parts of data centers. The functions of the PDU are much similar to the UPS, which provides more power to the existing system. PDUs are an efficient way to cater power among different parts of the data center. They are cost-efficient, space-efficient, and support many data center equipment.

The intelligent PDUs are divided into sub-categories as well: Metered Power distribution unit Automatic transfer switch The dual-circuit power distribution unit A remotely monitored power distribution unit These all are the differences between a basic PDU and an intelligent PDU.
