  3. The Interurban Streetcar system was Seattle’s first experience with “light rail”

  4. Voter Approved 1n 1996, 70% of Seattle voters approved local funding for Sound Move to provide: • Link Light Rail • Commuter Rail • Expanded Bus Service

  5. Sound Transit has identified a route and stations • 16 stations are within Seattle City Limits

  6. Central Station Areas • First Hill • Westlake/Convention Place • University Street • Pioneer Square • International District • Royal Brougham • Lander Street • North Beacon Hill

  7. Station area planning, will occur within walking distance (1/4 mile) of each station site

  8. Station Area Planning Goals • Land uses support transit use and walking • Create attractive, safe, convenient places • Locate community facilities near stations to encourage transit use
