  1. EMODNET Preparatory Actions Hydrographic and Seabed Mapping Possible new subjects for next tender By Dick M.A. Schaap – Coordinator Brussels - Belgium, 8th June 2011, MODEG Meeting

  2. Hydrographic Data Products viewing service • Sources reference layer, indicating which source data (surveys or composite DTMs) were used as prevailing for DTM grid cells. Including identification of related source and associated metadata.

  3. Hydrographic Data Products viewing service • Sources reference layer, indicating which source data (surveys or composite DTMs) were used as prevailing for DTM grid cells. Including identification of related source and associated metadata.

  4. Possible new subjects • Expanding geographic coverage to all European maritime regions by including also: • Black Sea • Baltic Sea • North West Atlantic - Norwegian Sea • Arctic waters • Upgrading the gridding algorithm (also learning from Geo-Seas WP11 experiences) for less anomalies – apply for all regions • Upgrade the overall resolution from 450 meters to 200 meters • Also prepare a fully smoothed (polished) version

  5. Possible new subjects • Also provide a projected grid (X,Y squares) next to the geographic grid (lat-lon boxes) to serve different user communities • Explore use of backscatter for geological purposes, including preparing an inventory of backscatter data sets and pilot for use • Investigate and establish interoperability with IHO standards, in particular S100 • Investigate the use of OLEX data sets as additional sources • Prepare a uniform high resolution European coastline from national coastlines

  6. Possible new subjects • Provide calculated and derived products such as: • Slopes • Curvature • Rugosity (is a measure of small-scale variations or amplitude in the height of a surface) • …. • Provide technical support and staff capacity to HO’s for reworking / harmonisation of their DTMs and production of metadata (see NBorth Sea HO’s) • Explore how to make use of the results of the BLAST project for tuning of separation models, vertical referencing, etc • Plus of course: expand the number of data providers, data sets and metadata for existing regions and new regions
