  1. GCSE Day of the Dead Project

  2. The Day of the Dead is celebrated in Mexico on November the first. It is a national holiday. It is a happy holiday. A time of remembrance and love and a celebration of life. It is traditional to celebrate those that have died by making altars with photographs of the departed, along with favourite loved objects and other mementoes are placed on the alter. When children dance with caricatures of death, eat skull sugar molds and learn to respect that life is brief, they learn there is a circle to life and to not fear death and then are free to enjoy and appreciate every moment.

AO3 Large Scale Skull Drawings BRONZE Grade 5 SILVER Grade 6/7 GOLD Grade 8/9 On A3 paper produce a large scale skull drawing in either pencil and/or marker pen which shows your best drawing skills. Choose a skull image from the choices above. This will be used in your design part of this project.

Homework: Scaled Skull Drawing Student work 4cm x 4cm grid 6cm x 6cm grid • Enlarge this 4cm x 4cm grid onto A3 paper by lightly drawing a set of 6cm x 6cmsquare grid (2.5cm right hand column). 2. Accurately draw the content of each square on the A3 paper to create an enlarged drawing of this skull. 3. Use pencil or pen to add the tonal shading to the skull as shown in the original image.

  28. You are to produce a series of drawings that connect with your artist. Use what you have already as well to help you with this process. Remember to: • You can pick an artist of your own but don’t take too long to decide. • You can use any connection with Day of the Dead to help you decide which direction to go. • You have two weeks to produce four drawings to show your ideas before you finalise a final piece. • Discuss your ideas and direction with your teacher first. Then you will make a final plan of your work, see below.

Developing Ideas • Development is about creativity and exploring ideas in different ways. ... Development is about selecting ideas, visual elements, compositions and techniques from your initial work and using them in new ways. It is important that you don't become too attached to your first idea.
