Library Services • Books, materials and equipment check out for teachers, staff and students • Automated check out and search capabilities • Internet access • Online research capabilities and databases • Accelerated Reader & STAR supported • Classes for teachers and students • Professional literature and staff development opportunities

  3. Professional Literature • Professional journals, periodicals and books are available for check out (ex. School Library Journal, Instructor, Learning & Technology, Mailbox.) • Journals provide information on latest in technology integration, teaching strategies, information on critiques of best selling books. • Guided Reading, Dibels, Technology Integration, and Reading Renaissance books are available for check out.

  4. Reading Renaissance, AR & STAR Rev Up For Reading Renaissance!! Getting Started! • Schedule a time for independent reading practice. • Read To and With students! • Monitor Progress!. • Set Goals, Diagnose, and Intervene! • Adjust book levels so students maintain an average of 85-92% on quizzes and are successful. • Check out, purchase and mark classroom books with AR levels. • Encourage students of read.

  5. Laptop & Projector • A laptop and projector are available on each hall. A sign-up sheet is in place to reserve it for your use. • If the lesson requires the use of a website, you must connect the system to the network via internet cable. • Read the instructions on the laptop if you have questions. • Press the Functionand the F7 key at the same time to get the projector to project the image onto the screen.

  6. Digital Camera • Take pictures of class for writing, classroom displays, Accelerated Reader board, PowerPoint about class or class books. • Assist students in using for special projects. • Use 3½” IBM formatted floppy disk • Use laser printer to print black and white pictures or color printer for special occasions.

  7. SMARTBoard & Projector • Check out the board, laptop, and projector for a technology integration lesson. • Connect the board using the instructions on the cart. • Access the Internet and use such sites as; AVL, TRIP, Google, Puzzlemaker, etc. • Have children use the board as mouse to interact with the sites. (Your whole class can do an enrichment crossword puzzle together)

  8. Software / Programs • Kidspiration – Writing and graphic organization program • Ultimate Writing and Creativity (on media network) • Orchard Phonics and Reading (on media network) • Accelerated Reader (Media) • STAR Reading (Media Network) • Kids Keys-Phonics/Keyboarding (Media Network)

Internet Sites • AVL(AlabamaVirtual Library –dictionaries, encyclopedias, search etc.) • APT Plus – (free instructional videos for download) • Think .com(free advertising-free websites and email for students and teachers) • Random House Children’s(Information and review of books, plans, activities and enrichment to integrate technology into reading) • TRIP (Mobile County site with objectives that follow the standards and State Courses of Study)

Alabama Virtual Library • What is the Alabama virtual library? Scholarly, essential, electronic Information resources. Accessed through the internet. • Where is the AVL? http://www.avl.lib.al.us/ • What are the goals of the AVL? Equity, economy & excellence For all who access it. Accurate, up-to-date information available at your desktop.

APT PLUS • Contains an extensive FREE library of instructional videos that can be viewed or downloaded from the Web on-demand, and a wealth of related multi-media resources for classroom education and teacher professional development. • APTPLUS will give you access to more than 1,800 educational television programs with video-on-demand. • Teacher accounts are set up through the system technology coordinator • http://www.aptv.org/Learning/APTPlus/

  12. Random House Children's Books is one of America's most popular publishers of children’s literature. Book reviews and information is available. Links to mini web sites, such as the Berenstain Bears, provide activities that integrate books and literature into math, writing, and science. This site makes it easy to incorporate the Information Literacy Standards into instruction across the curriculum. Find the latest, greatest Accelerated Reader Books
