Welcome to our ESOL class at Jefferson Market Library, running from March 15 to April 5, 2014! Meet every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM for an engaging learning experience led by instructor Chris Milson. Our class focuses on speaking, listening, reading, and writing, essential skills for language improvement. You'll enjoy reading a book and writing stories while participating in buddy groups for conversation practice. Don’t forget to bring your NYPL library card. What we will be doing • Speaking • Listening • Reading • Writing
Speaking and Listening are Vital • Try to talk a lot! In class and after class • If you speak English an hour a day every day your English WILL IMPROVE • We will talk a lot in class • We will form BUDDY GROUPS to chat after class
Reading • You will read one book over the next four weeks. • We will help you choose a book that you will enjoy and will be comfortable with • You will need a NYPL Library Card
Writing • You will write a couple of small stories
Homework • There will be homework every week. • It’s important to do your homework.
We will study American Civics • March is Women’s History Month in the United States • We celebrate women for their achievements and successes.
Our class has a web site • Everything we do in class is available online • You can view, print, study any time you wish • www.alc-jefferson1.wikispaces.com • If you need computer training, the NYPL can help. • You need computer skills!
