Purpose • to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of using existing hospital projects and committees to satisfy the SBP competency

Methods • PGY 2-5 general surgery residents chose a SBP experience • Multidisciplinary committee • Existing quality project • Own SBP project • Assessment included attendance and journaling; feedback from committee chairs • Curriculum evaluation based on survey

Results Mean attendance at committees: 58%

Lessons Learned • Residents value SBP experiences when they attend • 67% of residents would prefer a new experience or project for the subsequent year • Protected time and defined roles are crucial to SBP success
