  2. Early life • 1819 – May 24th – Princess Alexandrina Victoria of Kent was born at Kensington Palace, the only child of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Princess Victoria Mary Louisa of Saxe–Coburg–Saalfeld • Death of Princess Victoria's father and her grandfather

  3. Victoria was able to speak several languages • 1830 – March 11th – The Princesswas told for the first time that she might succeed to the throne • 1836 – May 18th - Princess Victoria met her future husband, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha

  4. 1837 – June 20th – William IV died • Victoria became Queen • 1838 – June 28th – The coronation of Queen Victoria took place at Westminster Abbey

  5. Marriage • 1839 – October 15th – Queen Victoria and Prince Albert became engaged • 1840 – February 10th – they were married • very powerful partnership and happy marriage

  6. The birth of her children • 1840 – Victoria, Princess Royal • 1841 - Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later Edward VII.) • 1843 – Princess Alice • 1844 – Prince Alfred

  7. 1846 – Princess Helena • 1848 – Princess Louise • 1850 – Prince Arthur • 1853 – Prince Leopold • 1857 – Princess Beatrice

  8. The reign • 1841 – Queen Victoria appeared on the Penny Red postage stamp • 1854 – Outbreak of the Crimean War • 1877 – Queen Victoria became Empress of India

  9. 1887 – June 2st – Queen Victoria celebrated her Golden Jubilee with a service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey • 1897 - Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee • 1899 - Boer War began and ended on 31st May 1902

  11. The attempts on her life • 1840 – 1882 – seven attempts were made on Victoria´s life • 1840 – June 10th – Edward Oxford attempted to assassinate twice the Queen • 1842 – May 29th – John Francis fired a pistol on the Queen at St. James´s park

  12. 1842 – June 3rd – John William Bean attempted to shoot the Queen • 1849 – William Hamilton attempted to alarm the Queen by firing powder-filled pistol • 1850 – the Queen was injured when she was assaulted by Robert Pate • 1872 – Arthur O´Connor tried to shoot her

  13. 1882 – the last of attempts on Victoria´s life – Roderic McLean fired a bullet towards the Queen

  14. The death of her husband • 1861 – December 14th – Prince Albert died on typhoid fever- Victoria wore for the rest of her reign black

  15. Later years and the death of the Queen • 1901 – January 22nd – Queen Victoria, Empress of India died peacefully at Osbourne House • 1901 – February 2nd – Her funeral was held at St. George´s Chapel in Windsor • She was laid to rest alongside her husband in the Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore
