Soil Warming Enhances Plant Species Richness but Hinders Germination from Alpine Seed Banks

This study examines the impact of soil warming on plant species richness and germination rates in alpine ecosystems. Findings reveal that while elevated soil temperatures increase the diversity of plant species, they simultaneously reduce germination rates from the existing seed bank. This research highlights the complex interactions between climate change and plant community dynamics, emphasizing the need for adaptive management strategies in alpine habitats to support biodiversity in the face of ongoing global warming.
