  6. TIME TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS • College is more than a means to an end • .  "A mind is a fire to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled." - Plutarch • Make the most of it. • You will never be poorer , but you will never be more free.

  7. Separation Calling/facebook/email/texting Visiting home Having family visit Going home Remember – you are not a tenant at home – and they are not your maids, butler, rental agency. Be respectful Anticipate contrast in college and home. Communication Stress Time management It is okay to say “No.” You do not have to do EVERYTHING all at once. And you can’t – well. This is your time! Use it well. COMING HOME/MANAGING HOME

  8. GOOD LUCK • Please keep in touch • Let me/other teachers know if we helped, if we missed something. • I still read essays, write recommendations, take visitors, make smart-aleck remarks on facebook.

  9. HUNGER • CHICKEN CHEESE DIP • 1 package Philly cream cheese • 1 package (2 cups) Mexican cheese – with pepper jack – or shred and blend cheddar and pepper jack • 1 jar salsa – as hot as you like it • 2-3 shredded pieces of chicken • 1 jar of green chilies (hot or mild – your choice) • In skillet, melt the cream cheese, adding the other cheese. • When mostly shredded, add the salsa, chilies, and then the chicken. • Store overnight and reheat for serving. • Note – you can also throw it all into a crock pot and let it cook on low for a couple hours. I just like to fix it ahead – and it helps the seasoning. •  Coming soon to a classroom you are in….

  10. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. - Mark Twain You are the future I have been waiting for – go become it.
