  2. PROBLEM STATEMENT • PROBLEM STATEMENT1: How strong is nylon fishing string? • PROBLEM STATEMENT2:Will the strength used to hold the candles change the results? • PROBLEM STATEMENT3:How does the thickness of the string affect my results?

HYPOTHESIS • It is hypothesized that if I add fifty pounds of weight on to the nylon fishing strings they will not be able to handle the weight so they’ll break. • It is hypothesized that it doesn't matter the strength you use because all it matters is that the if the string can hold the candle. • It is hypothesized that the thickness of the string does mind because if I put a fifty pound candle on a fifty thick inch string then the string wont pop of course.

  4. MATERIALS • 1.Nylon fishing string • 2.Candles of varying weights • 3.Stopwatch

Procedures • First, you tie the first candle to a nylon fishing string, record the time taken holding on to the string. • Next, you tie the second candle to the nylon fishing string then record the time taken holding on to the string. • Then, you tie the third candle to the nylon fishing string then record the time holding on to the string. • Finally, graph the data.

  7. Background Information • My background information is simple all it is that I chose this project one of two reasons. First , one reason is I thought it was an extraordinary project and I thought it had a lot of science into it. Also, most of the other projects were very boring I had great ideas for this project.

  8. conclusion • In, conclusion my hypothesis was correct the nylon fishing strings could not hold the weight of the fifty pound candle and it broke.

  9. Results • In conclusion my hypothesis was proved to be correct and the nylon fishing strings couldn’t hold the fifty pounds of weight.

  10. Applications • This will be useful to daily life because most fishermen wouldn’t want to use this because it only holds up to 50 pounds and not every fish is exactly fifty pounds.
