  1. Solving Systems of Equations and Inequalities 2-2-09 IMP4 Sia

  2. Seating Chart

  3. Today’s Agenda • Bell ringer • Go over QUIZ from Friday • Finish HW2: Heavy Flying • HW6 due Friday, February 6th

  4. Bell ringer • Use your notes to identify which method of solving systems would be best. • Solve the system of equations.

  5. Solutions to bell ringer Since we have same number coefficients with opposite signs, elimination would be most efficient. Simply ADD the equations.

  6. Solutions to bell ringer Since we have two expressions equal to y, setting y’s equal would be most efficient. Simply set the expressions equal to each other and solve for x.

  7. Solutions to bell ringer Since we have one variable by itself, solving by substitution would be most efficient. Simply plug in the expression for x into the other equation.

  8. Announcements • HW Hall this Tuesday and Thursday until 4:30pm • HW6 due Friday, February 6th • EC binder is at the front of the room

  9. Don’t forget… Lisa: I will be here every day. Brandon: I will finish more HW. Vere: I will ask for more help. Lili: I will do my HW. Eduardo: I will do my HW. Silvia: I will do my HW. Angel: I will go to HW Hall when I need help. Omar: I will try to do HW. Antonia: I will come to HW Hall when I need help. Chris: I will come to HW Hall when I need help. Ms. Sia: I will be more patient and understanding.

  10. QUIZZES • We need help with: • Solving systems of equations • Knowing the difference between solving for y and solving systems of equations • Identifying a solution on a graph • EXPECT A RETAKE THIS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH IN CLASS!

  11. HW2: Heavy Flying • Recall what we’ve already done: • Represent the constraints as inequalities • Solved the inequalities for y (or C) • Graphed the inequalities on our calculators • OUR TASK: determine how many cartons Linda should carry to maximize profits • By the end of this week, we should be able to do this without graphing!

  12. This Week’s HW • HW6 is due Friday, Febraury 6th • PLEASE come to HW Hall if you need help completing this assignment!
