  2. General Facts Saint Michael is the patron saint of paratroopers, police officers, mariners, and grocers. His feast day is on September 29.

  3. Life Saint Michael the Archangel was always an angel thus meaning he was never born on Earth. He has accomplished many things including throwing the devil out of heaven. He is also the captain of the armies of God. Known as the Angel of the Lord, he is the patron and protector of the Christian Church.

  4. Virtue A virtue associated with Saint Michael is “Bestowed of God’s Mercy”.

  5. Fun Fact Pope Leo XIII wrote a famous prayer that starts, “Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, Keep us safe from the wickedness and snares of the devil.” He wrote this after a vision in which he saw Michael sending Satan back to Hell. The name Michael means “Who is like God”.

  6. Conclusion Saint Michael is a famous saint known around the world for defeating the devil and sending him back to Hell. Many cultures regard him as a model of bravery and protection. God has made Michael his general of the army of God.
