Thailand has made significant strides in biofuel development, particularly in ethanol and biodiesel production. Since the introduction of the National Ethanol Policy in 2000 and the revival of the program in 1999-2000, the country has positioned itself as a leader in Asia for renewable energy policies. With projects like the Royal Chitralada's molasses ethanol unit and extensive fleet trials, Thailand aims for an ethanol production capacity of 11.6 million liters per day by 2008. The government also incentivizes the use of gasohol and biodiesel, promoting local agricultural products.
