  5. Your child’s first tooth arrives – which toothbrush should I buy? The actual time at which the first tooth arrives can vary widely between individual children, but parents need to start brushing their child’s teeth as soon as the first tooth appears. Jordan 0-2 has strong contrasting and fun colours that stimulate the child. The following are comment signs and symptoms of teething: • Increased drooling • Restless or decreased sleeping due to irritated gum • Refusal of food due to soreness of the gum region • Fussiness that comes and goes • Place objects or fingers into the mouth

  6. What is the correct way to brush my baby’s teeth? It’s fun to brush your teeth! Supervise brushing to make sure children use only a pea sized amount of toothpaste and avoid swallowing it. Children should be taught to spit out remaining toothpaste and rinse with water after brushing. Most children will be able to brush on their own by the age of 6 or 7 years. Click here to view the Jordan video to learn how to correctly brush your child’s first teeth. Your dentist or dental hygienist will also be happy to help if you need more guidance.

  7. When should I start taking my baby to the dentist? A child can visit a dentist as soon as his or her first tooth appears, but at least no later than their first birthday. A dental visit at an early age is not only a check-up for teeth. Besides checking for tooth decay and other problems, the dentist can demonstrate how to clean your children’s teeth properly. It’s a good idea to take your baby along with you when you have an appointment, that way he/she will become familiar with the surgery environment.

  8. How long does a toothbrush last? Most people don’t change their toothbrush as often as they should. Dentists recommend that you should change your toothbrush every three months (at least four times a year). Children wear out their toothbrush even faster than adults because they have a tendency to bite and chew on the brush.
