  1. Good morning! Homeroom September 16, 2013 • Get all books and materials ready for the day. • Use inside voices. • Either read, do work from other classes, or sit quietly until literacy begins. • www.channelone.com

  2. ELA September 16, 2013 Materials Needed: paper, pen, Montage notes, instruction sheet, checklist, computer Agenda: • Create PowerPoint presentation using all researched info for Montage project. Homework: Read independent reading book. Warm-up: Get out all materials. When we get to lab, sign on computer and open up your word documents. Wait QUIETLY for your teacher to give further instructions.

Essential Questions & Standards • How do I cite my resources correctly on a bibliography page? • How do I create a blog? • How do I link blog to another blog? • How do I create a post and a draft? ELACC8RI1 Cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. ELACC8W7 Conduct short research projects to answer a question, drawing on several sources and generating additional related, focused questions that allow for multiple avenues of exploration. ELACC8W8 Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, using search terms effectively; assess the credibility and accuracy of each source; and quote or paraphrase the data and conclusions of others while avoiding plagiarisms and following a standard format for citation. ELACC8W6 Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and present the relationships between information and ideas efficiently as well as to interact and collaborate with others.

  5. Work Session • Make sure that you have opened all Word documents opened and have all fact fragment notes out on your desk. • Open PowerPoint. Select title slide. Type in title of project (refer to instruction sheet) in top box. Type in your full name and class period in bottom box. TITLE SLIDE IS YOUR FIRST SLIDE.  • Watch QUICK OVERVIEW of how to use PowerPoint.

  6. Work Session continued 4. 2nd slide = biographical information 5. 3rd slide = picture of person and pictures of person in movement 6. Other slides must be of the following = a. Quotes from different songs plus singer who sang them b. Picture of event at Lincoln Memorial c. Picture of 1963 March on Washington program d. 2 groups with 3-5 facts about each one e. Collage 7. Create a citations page for text and pictures.

Work Session continued • Go to www.google.com • Select images. • Type in 1963 March on Washington program. • Select a picture of program. • Double click on it to open the page that it is really located on. • Save image as 1963 March on Washington program. • When you want to insert in PPT, go to Insert, Picture, Select Picture, Open, and it is inserted.

  8. Closing Save all Word documents. Save PowerPoint. Log off computers and put. Clean up area. Have a great weekend!

Follow directions from sheet. Alternate Assignment— Read “The Ransom of Red Chief” by O’Henry pp.46-61. Complete activities on p. 47. Read story and answer questions located in the margins on pp. 48-57. Answer questions 1-6 on p. 59. Write ALL answers in complete sentences.
