  2. Concepts under consideration1.Language is a mirrorof the emotion of the user; how one speaks reflects one’s preference, and attitude towards man and nature in general.2. The meaning of languageis affected by the linguistic context---situation:when, where, towhom, inwhat way, andfor what purposeit is used.3. Meaning lies in comparison-----from general to specific, reflecting the depth of cognition, as in telling plant, flower, rose, and Chinese rose.

Evaluative language reflects results of mental activities and isabstractin nature; descriptive language reflects the results of human perception through the five sense organs and therefore isconcretein nature.5. Stylistics as a linguistic approach to literary criticism, involving the features of linguistic study and literary study, our attention must be paid to the combination of the historical study of the author in terms of such cultural factors

Concepts under consideration as family and social background, social andeconomic status, religious belief, pursuit of value judgment embodied in his major literary works, and the linguistic features of his works, especially the target text you choose for study, so as to interpret the literary significance of the text by means of discovery of the author's linguistic preference in the text. In a word, this is a parallel effort of historical and textual study.

  5. Concepts under consideration6. Academic study means to explore for discovery by observation and analysis. 7. Reading a text in nature is an observation to collect as data linguistic features of the target text, which is called linguistic description.8. Linguistic description focuses on the frequency of the linguistic features, and on the violation of the linguistic norms, so as to show the author’slinguistic preference in the text as the evidence to interpret its literary significance.
