Our Rejected Theories • A theory we Reject is the cow kicking over the lantern. It seems too staged and fake, even though we know agitated cows will kick. • We do not think it was caused in another way, like by a cigarette or cigar, or even the possibility of the comet. Our other theory seems more likely and steadfast.
Our Accepted Theory We Think that the fire, indeed, started in the O’Leary Barn, but we believe that there Is a culprit other than the cow. Louis M. Cohn Admitted to starting the fire. He was gambling with one of the O’Leary sons and other neighborhood boys when Mrs. O’Leary came to chase them out. While escaping, He accidentally knocked over a lantern, starting the blaze.
We believe this Explanation because It is a confession. It is very likely when compared to the others.
