1. BIRD BOX enigma and action code https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBLK5FAAp1Q (scene end on 3:10) The scene starts with an establishing shot of a forest. The audience has no idea where the opening sequence is going to take place. We can hear a non-diegetic sound which is used as a sound bridge. The scene then cuts to a close up shot of a woman talking to her two small kids explaining to them some kind of rules and warning them. The audience is in confusion as they don’t know where and why are the three of them alone in a small house, and where are they going. We assume that they might be going on a long trip as the woman is taking their bird with them and putting it in a box. This also connotes to the title of the film “Bird Box”. We have no idea why they are wearing blindfolds as they go outside and try finding the way to the river. We can see that the woman is holding onto a string with her hand and counting steps which will lead her the way. So we can tell that probably they have been there for a while and found a way to survive. As they go down to the river we can see a skeleton laying on the ground which shows us that people are being killed or dying because of some kind of disease or any other explanation that they come up with. They were probably trying to get out of there for a long time as she is very sure of what she is doing. We also stay in confusion as they are in the boat going somewhere down the river. As we see the title of the film shown on the water we see a “5 years earlier sign” on a black screen. Then there is a extreme close up shot of her pregnant stomach being checked out in a hospital. The scene then cuts to a bird eye view of her laying on a medical bed looking very happy and excited. As she walks out of the room she walks down the hall. Here we see a close up shot of her face. As we see her face expression go scared the scene cuts to a wide shot of a woman banging her head on the window until it bleeds. Everyone is very confused and scared and tries to get out of there. As soon as she gets into the car we can see a shot of the car accident in front of them. The audience is feeling uncomfortable as we see people harming themselves. We then try to figure out what is happening with everyone and why they are trying to harm and kill themselves. Enigma Action codes
