Bank of America (BAC) • Bad news: European banks soar while American banks struggle • ING Groep was up 3%, while US banks like Citigroup was recently down 0.5% and Bank of America was down 0.4% after falling more than 2% earlier • Bank of America added a $5 monthly fee for users who use their debit cards to purchase items • This fee has been criticized by Senator Durbin and President Barack Obama

  8. TJX Companies (TJX) • Customers are still favoring bargains • As prices of Macy’s and TJX go up, customers are going to discount retailers • Bad news for these department stores • Slow job growth and weak consumer spending

  10. Target (TGT) • Stock is difficult to buy • Approaching moving average • Has the highest dividend of general merchandise companies, 2.4% • Now includes food discount stores and fully equipped online store in addition to their general merchandise stores

  12. Whole Foods Market (WFM) • Sells fresh food only • This appeal to buyer’s because they advertise their food as healthy • Market Cap of 11 billion • PE of 36.33

  14. Toyota Motors (TM) • Toyota is seeing sales decline after Japan’s tsunami and earthquake in March • Strong Japanese Yen is hurting trade, which includes Toyota’s sales • In Japan, it is a good time to buy, not to sell

  16. Exxon Mobil (XOM) • Slowing pace of global recovery and turmoil in Libya have forced oil prices down • Share prices are going down • Good news, Libya is soon going to be producing 500,000 b/day • Also, new oil drills are being opened

  20. Stock Results after Trading • At first, I invested $9,993.57 • At the end of the fourth day, I had $9756.2 • This resulted in a loss of $237.37

  22. The Graph Explained • As shown by the graph, at first I spent almost $10,000 • After one bad day in the stock market, my total dropped to almost $9,500 • The next two days, the stocks rose to about $9,750
