  1. It’s Not All As It Themes What is Your Issue?

Expectations Each team is to create three things: • An advertising campaign that shows an understanding of persuasive and figurative language • A 3-D model of a ride/attraction that exemplifies a theme or issue found in Maniac Magee • A multi-media presentation that reinforces a theme/issue, correlates the emotions felt by the ride and those of the theme/issue chosen, and provides a true-to-life resolution for the theme/issue

  3. Roles • Director/Producer • Project Manager • Engineer/Designer • Advertising Executive Each team will have the following roles: All roles will participate in research.

  4. Director/Producer • In charge of the Media Proposal (media will have at least 8 images, music representative of the theme, symbolism, and a script) • Encourages group to stay on task • Is the Optimist • Ensures the group works well together • Makes sure materials are present: folder, paper, laptops, etc. • Makes sure area is cleaned up and materials are returned to proper place. • Makes sure the project expresses emotions and feelings of the theme/issue

  5. Project Manager • Assist the Producer with the Media Proposal (media will have at least 8 images, music representative of the theme, symbolism, and a script) • Keeps track of tasks and assignments • Is the go-to person if questions arise within team • Takes questions to teacher if necessary • Makes sure deadlines are met • Ensures guidelines are followed • Makes sure materials are present: folder, paper, laptops, etc. • Makes sure area is cleaned up and materials are returned to proper place. • Makes sure the project expresses emotions and feelings of the theme/issue

Engineer/Designer • In charge of the 3-D element (might also include a drawn out plan) • Makes sure designs are compliant with specifications on rubric • Insures that the ride/attraction reflects the theme chosen • Spots the difficulties • Ensures the 3-D model is constructed to scale • Makes sure the project expresses emotions and feelings of the theme/issue • Makes sure the project is above and beyond in terms of creativity • Looks for all the possibilities, alternatives, and new ideas

  7. Advertising Executive • In charge of the storyboard/brochure (this would be a written element, describing the ride or what happens while people wait in line) • Makes sure the project expresses emotions and feelings of the theme/issue • Ensures the graphics reflect the emotion and feelings needed to convey message • Sees that the theme/issue is reflected in all the work that is produced • Ensures that the ad campaign would be helpful in increasing public awareness of theme/issue • Ensures the writing elements are all present (figurative language, persuasive writing, adjectives)

  9. They can be fired. • They can be removed from the team for not complying to the contract. What if there is a problem with one of the team members?They won’t work.They don’t contribute.They cause division.They are not respectful.Their work is not completed on time.They do not communicate.

  10. Firing Procedure • If a contract rule is broken: • Team will have a meeting to ask member to follow the contract. • If rules are not followed, the teacher will be asked to help find a solution. • If mediation does not solve problem, member may be asked to remove themselves from the group for a designated time period. • After removal time is completed and work is up to dates, member will return to group.
